New Orleans - Dish

Rarified Rx Rarified Rx
Housed in a former Uptown pharmacy and cozily tucked away in a garden, Gautreau pays tribute to its former incarnation. Original apothecary displays show carefully selected wine and alcohol offerings, while tromp l’oeil walls and antique mirrors are reminiscent of the French bistro’s circa 1900 beginnings. However, an ever-evolving menu of modern French and current Louisiana fare are strictly contemporary. Choices change every six weeks, depending on seasonal ingredients selected by celebrated chef Sue Zemanick, 2008 winner of Food & Wine magazine’s Top 10 new chefs in America award. We suggest dining on dishes like sautéed jumbo lump blue crab or crisp pork belly with roasted peaches.

Streetcar's Desire Steetcar's Desire
The lower east French Quarter restaurant Stella! is daring and passionate, just like those who surround Stella Kowalski in Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire. An international caviar menu grabs your attention, while choices on the main carte (such as tempura jelly fish and homemade ice cream served in an ice shell) scream for attention. While Chef-owner Scott Boswell takes on the world with his cutting-edge menu, he also gives New Orleans its due by providing a romantic dining spot that will delight visitors with discerning palates and the desire for a unique dining experience.

Vieux Carré Beloved Vieux Carré Beloved
Pick a table by the window at the family-owned Galatoire’s Restaurant, Tennessee Williams’s favorite place to dine. After 100 years of service, this French Quarter establishment is one of New Orleans’s oldest restaurants and still on the must-do list of every well-informed visitor. Choose from favorites like oysters Rockefeller, lamb chops béarnaise, and banana bread pudding. One caveat: Selecting this fine French eatery means waiting in a long line of regulars.
